Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Yusuf İslam Seyhan and I'm a student enrolled in Current Issues in Teaching course. I will be using this blog to update you guys on my journey throughout this course. The posts will include my reflections, my thoughts about the emerging technologies in educational landscape and my overall learning journey.Today I want to touch on what i will be posting.
As we all know, in the 21st century the educational landscape is constantly changing with technological advancements and new findings about the human brain. What we should do is adapt to these changes and also ponder on how we can make it useful to the class. Such examples of emerging technologies are, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence and chatbots (AI), and new applications for the devices we currently have. For English Language Teaching, technologies such as new translating technologies or new applications dedicated for English teaching are also in consideration.
This blog will also touch on my journey throughout teaching as a whole, not just emerging technologies. It will include how to structure a lesson better, how to make teaching more effective and efficient. Also, it is important to always ensure that the new technologies truly enchance learning instead of being a hindrance or adding more complexity.
